Easy Spicy Korean Shabu Shabu

Ingredients
  

For the Hot Pot
  • 300g thinly sliced beef
  • 500–600g mixed mushrooms
  • 300–400g bok choy
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 100–150g Korean radish
  • 6–8 fish balls
For the Spicy Broth
  • 800 ml water
  • 1 tbsp tuna sauce
  • 1 tbsp beef bouillon powder
  • 1 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2.5 tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • 1 tbsp soup soy sauce (guk-ganjang)
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • Black pepper, to taste

Method
 

  1. Arrange the beef, mushrooms, vegetables, onion, radish, and fish balls (if using) in a large pot.
  2. Mix all the broth ingredients in a small bowl to make the seasoning paste.
  3. Spoon the seasoning paste over the ingredients and pour in the water.
  4. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the seasoning dissolves.
  5. Cook for 10–15 minutes, or until the beef and vegetables are tender. Serve hot.
