Korean Spicy Pork Stir-Fry (Jeyuk Bokkeum)

Thinly sliced pork coated in a spicy gochujang sauce and stir-fried with vegetables. A classic Korean dish that's easy to make at home.

Ingredients
  

  • 600 g  pork shoulder or pork belly thinly sliced
  • 1 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 3 Tbsp gochugaru
  •  ½ Tbsp MSG 
  •  ½ Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp  gochujang
  • 1 Tbsp  soy sauce
  • 1.5 Tbsp  corn syrup
  •  ½ onion
  •  ½ green onions
  • 3 Chili peppers

Method
 

  1. Add the pork and oil to a cold pan. Cook over high heat until the pork starts to sizzle.
  2. Add the garlic, MSG, gochugaru, sugar, and gochujang. Stir well to coat the pork.
  3. Pour the soy sauce around the edge of the pan and let it sizzle for a few seconds.
  4. Add the corn syrup, onion, green onion, and chili peppers. Stir-fry until the pork is fully cooked and the vegetables are tender.
  5. For extra smoky flavor, lightly torch the pork before serving (optional).
